N.682: A late Victorian 5 chain silver chatelaine composed of 2 pierced hanging panels and hinged belt clip made by H. Matthews in Birmingham 1900, with the following fittings by various makers: spectacles case, 6.8 inches long 1898. Scissors in silver fitted case 1898. Silver pencil 3.5 inches long and silver aide memoire containing 3 ivory leaves 3 inches long, both 1899. A silver mounted fruit knife and button hook, 2.5 inches long, 1899. 2 pieces with crest and latin motto "certavi et vici"( I have fought and conquered).
